ADDMINISTRATIVE ACTIVITIES

The School of Applied Sciences was created in the year 2020 out of a single School that comprised initial Five (5) Programmes. Mr. Samson A. Omogbehin was appointed as the acting Dean of the School. The position he occupied till Monday, 5th June, 2023.

The School had Mr. J.A Ademuyiwa as its first substantive Dean. He was elected into the position on Monday, 5th June, 2023. He is from department of Statistics. He oversees all activities in the School.

On Monday, 10th June, 2024, Dr. Aliu Abbas Hassan was elected as the Dean of School. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Aliu Abbas Hassan had held various positions in the Polytechnic.

Administrative Activity

The School holds her Board Meeting every third Tuesday of every month where deliberations and considerations are made on cogent issues in relation to the development of the School.

The School currently have Five Departments with the following Heads.

  1. Accreditation:

National Diploma (ND) Courses have been accredited in the following Departments:

  1. Fisheries Technology
  2. Computer Science
  3. Science Laboratory Technology
  4. Statistics
  5. Agricultural Technology

 

In the same vein, resource accreditation for Higher National Diploma (HND) Courses had been done in Computer Science and Statistics Departments.

 

  1. Production of “FEDPOLEL Journal of Applied Sciences” (VOL.1 NO.1) 

The School has been able to produce TETFUND sponsored Journals which are to be distributed freely to National Diploma (ND) II and Higher National Diploma (HND) II Students. It is the believe of the School that the journals will assist these Students in many ways.Click to view Journals

 

  1. Research and Innovation

Members of Staff in the School carry out researches on regular basis. Functional fabrications like: Fish sorting Table; Erector for Fish Hatchery, Goat Pen among others were equally fabricated in the School.

It is pertinent to mention that some Academic Members of Staff in the School are in various institutions Abroad where they are pursuing higher degrees in order to contribute their quota maximally to the development of the School and the realization of the Polytechnic’s vision and mission.

  1. Seminar Series

The School in her quest to develop her human resources, introduced semester based Seminar series with the maiden edition held on Tuesday, 14th November, 2023 at the MIS/ICT Centre of the Polytechnic. The Seminar was well attended by scholars from all walks of life.

  1. Conference

The School organized her 1st international Conference on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday, 3rd July, 2024.
